File Trace is a raw recovery mode which deeply scans the hard drive and extracts data. The File Trace option is a slow scanning process as it completely scans and searches for data in sectors of the drive. Select this recovery mode if your hard drive or partition type is critically damaged or corrupt.
If you cannot find your files and folders by using the Quick Scan recovery mode and Extensive Scan recovery mode then File Trace recovery mode will surely recover data as it scans internal parts of the hard drive.
Select the File Trace recovery option.
Select Partition:
As you select the File Trace option, the file recovery software displays Physical Devices and Logical Devices of your computer system. Select the appropriate corrupt drive which you want to scan. If you do not know the drive which is corrupt then you should select one of the physical devices of your computer system. Deleted File Recovery for Windows will automatically search for the deleted, missing partitions.
If you have selected any logical device, Deleted File Recovery for Windows will display the related information like partition type, partition start, partition end and partition size of the partition.
Select File Types:
Deleted File Recovery for Windows will ask to select the file types which you want to recover; sound files, media files, doc files etc. The fat and ntfs recovery software then starts searching the selected file types.
Scanning Partition:
Deleted File Recovery for Windows will then start scanning sectors of the partition for data. The process is slow as it scans entire partition internally but is an effective and result oriented recovery process.
As the scanning process gets completed, Deleted File Recovery for Windows will display the found file(s).
Tree Structure Display:
The traced data of the selected file type will then be displayed in a tree like structure. Here you can select and view preview of the file which you want to recover.
Recover and Save:
Select the files and folders which you want to recover and click the Recover button. The saving option window will be displayed to select location of the recovered results.
The selected files will be recovered and saved at the selected location.
Important: Please see that the “File Trace” recovery mode does not recovers total hierarchy and original names of the file(s). Only the files saved on continuous sectors of the drive can be recovered.
